Below, you’ll find information about the 2025 Ames Storm team tryouts. We have a new process this year.

• Tryouts are for kids new to Ames Storm

• Kids that played on an Ames Storm team this past season don’t need to attend a tryout

• Head coaches of each current Ames Storm team will evaluate the players on their current roster based on the 2024 season. They will share evaluation results with Ames Storm Committee.

• Evaluation data from head coaches and data we get from the tryouts will get taken into consideration when forming the 2025 team.

Reminders:

• Our goal is to get as many kids playing as possible, at a level where they can find success and learn the game. In some cases numbers don’t work, or we think it’s better for the player to stay with our AYB League only and come next year and tryout.

• Ames Storm teams are earmarked for families with Ames addresses and are tightly connected with the Ames High Baseball program. We are not like other clubs, instead we are working together to give back to kids in Ames. This said, if we have a team that is short on players, we will open those spots to kids outside out the community.

• We offer offseason opportunities through Ames High and our own “coach run” Winter Workouts, but that is not mandatory to play.

• Special note to the class of 2030. There is no AYB Rec League for 7th graders, so if you're wanting to play please attend one of the Ames Storm tryouts

• Last year was our biggest year yet, and we are expecting more growth again in 2025. We hope this allows us to have two teams per division. 

New player tryouts for the 2025 Ames Storm Season

Tryouts will be on July 25th, 30th, and August 8th and we will form teams in mid August for the 2025 season.

• Tryouts will be at Hunziker

• Please arrive at 5:45pm for check in, tryouts will be roughly 75 minutes long

• Plan on it taking 75-90 minutes

• Bring a glove, helmet, and bat if you have one

• The tryouts are for next year's 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, 13 and 14U.

• Free to tryout

• You only need to attend one
